Le’Veon Bell officially decided on Tuesday that he is not going to play in the NFL this season, and he has almost certainly played his last snap for the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, some of his former teammates say talk of them dismantling the star running back’s locker this week have been a bit exaggerated. On Wednesday, Steelers players went through Bell’s locker and messed around with some items, with linebacker Bud Dupree recording a video thanking Bell for the new cleats. But on Thursday, some members of the team said there was nothing malicious about the act and insisted the items will be returned to Bell. It would be hard to blame anyone in the Steelers locker room for being frustrated with Bell. While they might understand the business aspect of his decision, the running back left the team in the dark the entire season, creating an unnecessary distraction that could have been avoided if he just admitted he had no plans to show up. Some players in Pittsburgh weren’t shy...

The Green Bay Packers now face a major uphill battle to reach the NFL playoffs, and they have Mike McCarthy’s terrible management at the end of Thursday night’s 27-24 loss to Seattle to blame. McCarthy completely butchered the end of the game with his failure to use a challenge and his awful decision to punt instead of going for it on fourth down. The first big mistake came when McCarthy declined to challenge a catch by Tyler Lockett with 6:41 remaining in the fourth quarter. The catch came on a 1st-and-10 by Seattle at midfield and went for 34 yards, taking the Seahawks to Green Bay’s 16. The Packers were up 24-20 at the time, so the catch almost ensured the Packers would end up with points. Replay showed that the ball hit the ground as Lockett was rolling over, indicating there would have been a good chance of the call being overturned. The Seahawks ended up scoring a touchdown on the drive, which was the game-winner. Why didn’t McCarthy challenge the catch? Probably because he...

In a game between two teams battling for playoff relevance in the NFC Thursday night, the Seattle Seahawks were able to protect home field against a Packers team that’s suddenly in the midst of a lost season. Despite falling down 21-17 at the half, Russell Wilson and Co. did what they needed to do in order to move to .500 on the season. Meanwhile, Green Bay’s offense stalled to the tune of three points in the second half. Aaron Rodgers struggled through the air. And in a clear sign that Mike McCarthy’s days are numbered, his play-calling was disastrous. These are among the winners and losers from Seattle’s 27-24 victory over Green Bay on "Thursday Night Football." Winner: Russell Wilson shows up again  A game that started out slow for Wilson and Co. turned into a statement win for Seattle. Wilson led the Seahawks on two fourth quarter scoring drives, overcoming a 21-17 deficit in the final stanza. This included a game-winning 15-yard touchdown strike to Ed Dickson with just over...

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fallen off pretty hard in 2018 to say the least. After becoming so close to reaching a Super Bowl last season, they’re off to a 3-6 start. But more than that, they’ve lost five in a row and currently sit at the bottom of the AFC South. Now the team’s most outspoken player, Jalen Ramsey, has had enough of his fan base - at least when it comes to those who keep doubting the team week in and week out. Ramsey tweeted on November 12, saying “When I’m gone from here, y’all gone miss me. I ain’t even trippin lol.” On Thursday, he got after “fake fans” with another tweet. “If that’s what people want to do or if that’s how people feel, then it’s certain people, like Y’all going to miss … we bring some good things,” Ramsey told ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “And, yeah, we slipped up here recently. Steelers franchise-tagged running back Le’Veon Bell didn’t report earlier this week, meaning he won’t play in 2018 and will likely leave Pittsburgh next spring (the Steelers could still use the transition tender, but that wouldn’t bind Bell to Pittsburgh). Given that Bell will hit the open market, Mike Sando of ESPN.com (ESPN+ subscription required) asked NFL executives where Bell will play in 2019, and for how much. The Jets and Buccaneers are seemingly viewed as the favorites to land Bell, while clubs like the Packers and Redskins are viewed as under-the-radar candidates to add the former All-Pro. As far as price tag, execs believe Bell could ask for $16-17M annually, but will ultimately fall in the $15M/year range. Sando’s entire piece is well-worth a full read. The Detroit Lions are set to play three consecutive games at the climate-controlled Ford Field, beginning with Sunday’s showdown with the Carolina Panthers. So, Matt Patricia’s decision to have the team practice outside in the snow on Thursday a somewhat perplexing one. In fact, Lions players were left confused about the outdoors practice session. Patricia, meanwhile, appeared to be in his element, even rocking shorts in the snow. Lions cornerback Darius Slay called the conditions “rough” and was not quite sure what to make of his coach’s decision. “I don’t know. I mean, I’m just out there trying to stay warm, really,” Slay said about the unconventional practice environment, via ESPN . “Like you said, we got indoor games. Odell Beckham Jr. on Thursday doubled down on his belief that the New York Giants can run the table and turn a presently disappointing season into a surprising one with eight consecutive wins. The Giants secured only their second notch in the W column for the 2018 campaign with a 27-23 victory on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers. Beckham first stated his belief the Giants could win out on that game and revisited the notion Thursday when speaking to reporters. “When I said it, I heard a lot of chuckles and all that stuff,” Beckham said, via the New York Post . “But it’s only crazy until you do it. That’s just the way it is. One down, we got seven left.” Beckham has never been short on confidence in himself, to say the least, and appears intent on instilling the same bravado in his Giants teammates. “I don’t know what would make me not believe it,” Beckham said. “That’s just the goal. Titans tight end Delanie Walker was placed on injured reserve in September after suffering a broken ankle and ligament damage in Tennessee’s first game, but the veteran pass-catcher still hopes to return from IR later this season, as he tells Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean: “In the back of my mind, if I can get healthy earlier where I can come back and play, I’m going to do that. But like I told you guys, I really don’t know. I don’t know what the time length is going to be. I feel good right now. Could I feel better when the time comes when we’re in the playoffs? Yeah. Rashaad Penny briefly exited Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers after suffering an ankle injury. The Seattle Seahawks rookie running back rushed for 30 yards on a play in the first quarter. Penny zig-zagged plenty on the play and did not return on the drive afterward. Penny was termed questionable to return due to his ankle after that play. He was able to return for a carry later in the first quarter and lost three yards. He was back on the field sharing carries with Chris Carson in the second quarter. Penny has battled through multiple injuries this season and has been a disappointment after being picked No. 27 overall. He entered Thursday’s game with just 254 rushing yards and one touchdown.
