I think for beginners and even some experienced traders ‘paper trading’ is one of the most underrated/underused tools in the trader’s armoury.

‘Paper Trading’ is when you test your trading and strategy without actually placing any real money on it, recording data as if you had put money on it. This is so essential to a trader because you can test an idea, or how good you are without losing any money.

So why is this concept so underused? There are a few reasons I can think of:

Greed can be defined as ‘Intense or selfish desire for something, wealth, food or power.’ So greed is an emotion? Correct, trading is an emotional game; well actually trading is an emotional war with oneself. So you need to be able to detach yourself from your emotions when trading otherwise the dreaded greed will get you and you shall be on a fast ticket to blowing that bank.

Two players who have been on a bit of form of late then, I am sure Kyrgios will be well up for this game, in his native OZ the crowd will be cheering on every point and I am not surprised his has a huge serve and there is a lot of potential in this young lad, he hits the ball well very flat, he is athletic enough to go the distance and come into the net and kill points off, when he gets in a groove he is very consistent.

The Attack Bias

Let’s talk about a syndrome that has swept across football betting and many other sports; it is called the ‘attack bias’. The ‘attack bias’ is where as humans we naturally favour attacking teams in sports and therefore our ‘bias’ towards that team blinds us and we think they should beat defensive teams (even when both sides are equal in talent).

Today was a busy day for me so I got back in and checked the games, Lazio v Verona was the first game I found which I quickly checked to find that these two teams are more than capable of scoring more goals and I layed the 1-1 in this game, shortly after I heard those words we all like to hear…. ‘this market has been suspended’ it was a real one not just Betfair scaring us!
