The Champions League final will be a Madrid derby for the first time in the history of the competition. Real were outstanding in eliminating Bayern Munich in their semi-final but how good are Atletico Madrid?
Surely Liverpool would not win the league five times more than losing it from the current position. You can lay them at 1.2 and that must be the bet in view of how things could change at the weekend.
The whole Premier League season could have turned on one incident in the huge match at Anfield between Liverpool and ManchesterCity last Sunday. I’m trying to be objective here in view of my allegiance but it seemed clear that Martin Skirtel handled the ball in injury time.
A nightmare scenario for Everton is if they finished fourth in the league but did not qualify for the Champions League. That could only happen if United won this season’s Champions League but that won’t be the case now after losing to Bayern Munich.
Some pundits were saying David Moyes’ career as manager of Manchester United was dependent on the result against Bayern Munich. I support United so objectivity might be hard but it was not only the result but the manner of the performance that augers well for the future.
David Moyes signed a six year contract when he was appointed the manager of United but we all knew in reality he would never be given that amount of time. In my view the minimum requirement was qualifying for the Champions League and although that could still happen I thing Moyes will get the sack in the summer.
As a staunch and loyal United fan of many years standing it pains me to admit that I think Liverpool can win the league this season. They are now on a massive roll and full of confidence after the match at Old Trafford last Sunday that they could have won by six goals or more.
