#1 Meet The Betfair Trading Community Members - Dave Jessop
I want to champion the amazing Betfair Traders that we have at Betfair Trading Community
Here at Betfair Trading Community, we are always thinking of ways we can fulfil our promise which is to take the 95% of losing Betfair customers and turn them into winners, this series of blog posts is hopefully a way to help inspire all Betfair Traders because I want to take this time to champion our members who make the service what it is, they dedicate so much time to helping others become better as well and are active in the community.
I came up with this idea of asking the members a set of questions, they all got the same and I will post one a month so that you can see their answers to the trading questions, gain inspiration and also hopefully learn from them.
The questions are as follows.....

I have no fancy order other than who responded first to me, let me introduce the first in this 'Meet the Betfair Trading Community Members' series!!
The first member is a lovely chap called Dave Jessop, who is very active in the forum. Sadly his team of choice is Manchester United, can you believe they still have supporters? No, in all seriousness he is a cracking trader and its been amazing to see his progress over the last few months and have him around the group, it is a better place for having him around.
Do you remember the first time you traded on Betfair? What was it like? Did you notice anything around your emotional state? Probably trading the 0-0 correct score and thinking it was easy then had a few losers
What was most surprising to you about Betfair Trading? Maybe realising it was not a get rich quick thing - get poor quick if you aren't careful
What attracted you to Betfair Trading? Limited or closed at most bookies in 7 years of arbing - still make money doing it but it's more a case of quantity rather than quality arbs
What was the biggest challenge you’ve faced in trading on Betfair? & what steps have you taken to face that challenge? Discipline - I've cut down on the sheer number of trades - I used to finish one trade and then look at Betfair for the next available game and relying on Betfair odds more than research and stats
How has your trading changed? & why do you think this has changed? More automated now
What is your outlook for the future trading on Betfair? Betfair need a viable competitor so they can do a bit more for their customers - I've got 0% commission at Smarkets and Betdaq but their liquidity is so poor on most markets that it's hardly worth it at times
What have you learned about trading on Betfair? Sounds a bit Zen but I think you learn a lot about yourself by trading - you have to completely change your mentality, learn to think long term and learn how to take the hits - bit like real life
Is there an achievement you or contribution you are most proud of? Just being able to make a living wage from it and not needing to find a real job and not having anyone to answer to - a lot less stress than working in a call centre for sure - also inspires me to get fitter and enjoy the income instead of burning out like a lot of people do just to make ends meet
Is there anything you think I should have asked you but I haven't? What are you drinking? ? Maybe something to do with ambitions?
